We survived the night. There were apparently 3 bears around the campground last night but none bothered us.
Another rainy day in Juneau.

I think we have seen most of them now, except the snow rain. Haven’t left yet though.
Our last day in Juneau and a chance to see some of the things we missed before. But with the rain continuing it is challenging to get out of the car.
The island has a road going north and south some distance before it just stops. We explored north last time so south this time. It was a quick few kms but the houses built on the side of the mountain were impressive, at least their entrances were.

Going down.

Across the road. How would you like to cart the groceries up that lot.
Douglas Island is just across the sound and is connected by a bridge, almost like a satellite suburb of Juneau. Definitely the poor cousin. Another drive to the End north and south was reasonably quick this time. Douglas Island does have a ski field which is used by Juneau.

All made with skis. There is nothing behind this.

When the tide goes out up here, it really goes out.

The whale is called Tahku and he is a full size bronze statue

We visited a new distillery, been going about a year, making whisky as a long term business but gin for short term cash flow. His Juniper Gin was excellent and mixed with his own brewed ginger beer was superb.

Bit harsh, specially for Alaska

Pauline’s plan revealed
Juneau has been disappointing simply due to the weather. There were some things we just couldn’t see or do so have to leave it for next time.
Early ferry to Haines tomorrow. Up at 4am to catch the last of the ferries for a while. The ferry system with your own car is really the only way to see this area as much of the beauty is outside the towns. It has been an interesting and very enjoyable start to our Canadian / Alaskan adventure.
