A bit of an easy day today as it has been a very hectic week. After a sumptuous breakfast we drove to Maligne Lake. This drive is suggested as the most scenic in all of Jasper National Park and on the right day I would agree. However it was very overcast and misty with occasional patches of weak sunlight.

Just out of town we came upon this beautiful elk. Makes me a little regretful about elk being on the plate last night.

Jasper National Park is all about the majestic scenery. The main activity in the park is hiking and there are tracks all over the place of various lengths and difficulty. It is difficult to show just what it is like but I have given it a shot. It would take at least three dedicated months to photograph it all properly.

Medicine Lake which fill each spring and empties to a stream each autumn.

Maligne Lake, a very popular destination in Jasper.
We did a 4km walk beside the lake and through the forest which was gorgeous. There is a whole range of fungi I haven’t come across before.

As you can see it was cold, about 5C, so we rugged up for the walk.
Found a great bakery for lunch then split up for a wander and rest for the afternoon. Some images of Jasper.

A very pretty town but it’s all about the tourists.
Tomorrow we head for Lake Louise for some more scenery, bush walks and two nights camping.
