The Jasper Visitors Centre
The Icefields Parkway, the road linking Jasper and Lake Louise is reportedly at or near the top of the most beautiful scenic drives in the world. Without any doubt it is the most scenic I have ever driven. There are some small areas on drives that may be more breathtaking but this is 128 km of non stop spectacular.

It was another sunny but cool day which certainly helped with the scenery. Just outside Jasper is Mount Edith Cavell, bathed in sunlight.

And not far down the road is the Athabasca Falls just a short walk off the road. The volume of water is impressive and not even at its peak.

A few minor mountains as we go down the road.

The Sunwapta Falls was next. Not as much water volume but still impressive.

A few more mountains, glaciers and falls.

The Athabasca Glacier is an opportunity to walk up to the face of the glacier. Unlike many others we have seen it was very clean.

A few more mountains before lunch.

Our lunchtime view.
We pulled into Peyto Lake and started the 10 minute walk to the viewing area just as it started to snow. We didn’t expect snow in summer. It was a light dusting that dissolved immediately but it was nicer than rain. Peyto Lake put on a good show with a bit of sun for the lookout.

A few more mountains and we arrived at Lake Louise. We had planned to camp and ended up in a very pretty forest area surrounded by an electrified bear fence.

Collette cooked another one pot wonder as we settled down for a 0C night.
