Artzalde.

We headed west along the coast road with the aim of eventually getting to Portugal. It is slow and windy with a 1000 roundabouts and dozens of small towns. But also some stunning views along a magnificent coast. The biggest problem we have is trying to find somewhere to stop the motorhome so I can take a photo. Opportunities are rare.

I include this photo, not for its interest or scenic beauty, but for the effort it took to take it. Eternally searching for places to stop, we saw a sign with a camera and lookout, so naturally we stopped. This had to be great we thought. So we trudged about 300 m up hill, climbed the lookout, and found this valley spread out below. So I just had to post the photo for the effort alone.

The beachside towns are more like a city and stretch up into the mountains. Beaches are packed at this time of year and it’s impossible to find a park for the motorhome so we often just have to push on.

We were lucky to get this spot and had to promise to stay just one night. It’s a very busy time of year, a weekend coming, and the solar eclipse next Wednesday is attracting big crowds. We have some bookings but it might be an interesting week ahead.

The car park at the local beach is packed at 8 pm.
