Day 32 – Hope to Beaver Creek

More magnificent scenery

Today we start the 3,000 km fast run to Jasper National Park, Lake Louise and Banff. Our route today took us back through Anchorage and then to Tok, a most spectacular scenic drive.

It was a an 800 km day so not a lot of time to take in the scenery but we had to make a few stops. This scenery never stops in Alaska. It is a place of constant glaciers, majestic mountains, forests and rivers that go on forever. There is a temptation to get blasé and bored with it but it just keeps grabbing at you.

Just another scenic view

Just another glacier

Just another snow capped mountain

And then there is the wildlife. We came across this young lady moose on the way.

But that’s what Alaska is all about: the majestic scenery, the enchanting animals and sea life, and the wonderful people who are by far the friendliest and most accepting Americans we have met.

So farewell Alaska. We hope to get back to explore more extensively this wonderful state.

And now to the Yukon in Canada where we are staying tonight at Buckshot Betty’s Roadhouse in Beaver Creek. Another interesting travel experience and better than it sounds.

Buckshot Betty’s

Peter and Collette making a hard decision. A Yukon beer already well sampled.

Tomorrow another 600 km day to Teslin and explore Whitehorse on the way.

It’s hard to stay upright when your feet are in mud. It’s a miracle they keep them strung without the wire breaking.
