Bragg Creek
Our drive today from Canmore to Fernie was hot and smokey. There are still some forest fires around Calgary which is causing a smoke haze over a wide region. This made scenic photos impossible.
For the first time this trip we drove through extensive farmland and wide, open grazing lands and ranches. Oil pumps scattered the landscape which obviously added to the visible wealth of the area.

First stop for coffee was at Bragg Creek, a real cowboy town. The coffee was great and the leather shop very interesting.

The next stop was Crowsnest, an old coal mining town.

Crowsnest Visitors Centre

A miniature church with seating for 9.

Fishing must be big in the area to support a fly shop.
Then on to Fernie where the girls had a hair appointment and the boys a beer with the rest of the male guests at the golf club.
Fernie is a ski resort town but not as tourist orientated as many others. Ski lodge resorts abound and we are staying in one with a ski lift at the back door. Photos tomorrow.
We had a lovely dinner with Erin and Jon and many of the other guests. It was a great opportunity to meet their friends who are a great bunch. It promises to be a fun wedding tomorrow.

The bride, Erin.
