Downtown Stuttgart
It was a 3.30 am start this morning to take Nicky and Peter to Frankfurt airport. It has been a wonderful trip to share with friends. Because Collette plus baggage would not fit in our car she went with Linda and Alan to Stuttgart where I met them after Frankfurt.
After lunch we decided to hit the town centre, the girls to check out the retail delights and the boys to check out the beer garden in the park. Stuttgart is such an industrial and commercial city that we really didn’t expect much. But we were pleasantly surprised.

The main street in the CBD.
A centrepiece of Stuttgart is the Schlossplatz.

Pity about the tent. Down the road is the bahnhof, the central rail station. Note the Mercedes logo prominently displayed.

Note the vineyards on the hill behind the bahnhof.
Then on to a lovely park and the beer garden. It was a long, hot walk and the beer was well deserved.

Alan and a couple of small beers.

If only Nicky was here she could name these for us.

Our B&B is about 50km north of Stuttgart in a country farm house. Our host is a young engineer who regularly comes to Brisbane for work.

Tomorrow Alan and I have scored a tour at the Porsche factory. Till then.
