Wednesday dawned bleak for the drive from Coles Bay to St Helens. We planned to see the Bay of Fires which we eventually did but it was not very impressive. However a quilt shop lightened the day for the girls.

The Gardens, the settlement on the hill, some of Tasmania’s most exclusive real estate.
The Bay of Fires was named by Matthew Flinders because of all the natives fires on the beach as they sailed past.

After farewells to Nicky and Peter we caught up with some friends and had dinner at a lovely restaurant at Binalong Bay. It was very misty with rain but the food was great. Just as we finished mains the power went out so the night was completed with candle light.
That night it rained for the first time since December. Really rained over most of Tasmania which helped the fire situation immensely.
Still raining in the morning so a sleep in was in order. A great fish and chips lunch was enjoyed while the rain cleared, mostly.
Retail therapy for the girls and fishing for the boys. Didn’t catch much but it was fun

By the end of the day the sun was out and it was hot again. Nice relaxing day. Tomorrow back to Hobart for the Wooden Boat Festival.
