Tasmania – Day 11

The Blowhole, Bicheno

It is a long and slow drive back to Hobart from St Helens, particularly down the coast. But today dawned spectacular and warm so the coast road with the crashing seas was the place to be.

We stopped at Bicheno for morning tea. Once renown for its crayfish catch, it is now more of a tourist destination with some crayfish shipped in, those they can keep from going overseas.

The main beach and bay in Bicheno.

Just down the road is a blowhole and as the tide was mid high we expected it to be blowing well. We were not disappointed.

Finally made it to the highway where we stopped at Ross for lunch. This is a very old and pretty town definitely worth an explore later.

Set up back at the Hobart Showgrounds. Meeting some English friends for dinner tonight then the Wooden Boat Show tomorrow.
