The Grand Plan

We started planning this trip in November last year. Since then it has been a roller coaster of will we / won’t we as the events in the Middle East and the ridiculous prognostications of the Great Orange President have played out. In the end we just said “To hell with it. We are going”. So on 9 June we take the boat and drive to Canberra to have some time with the grandkids, go to a wedding, then fly out on 30 June. We will be back in Tasmania on 6 October, all going well.

For this trip we decided we wanted to try touring with a motorhome, something we have never done before overseas, or for that matter even here. To get the van we wanted at a reasonable price meant picking it up in Prague. The last time we were there was in 2013 on our bike ride and in the middle of a huge flood so it will be great to re connect with that city. From there it is about 10,000 km for our planned trip during which we expect to encounter huge crowds, hot weather, endless cathedrals, awesome scenery, and some great tapas and wine.
We look forward to bringing you our adventures, photos, and mishaps via this blog.
