Cathedral of St Vitas (from the back)

Prague Castle is top of the ‘Must See’ in Prague. Dating back to the 9th century, it is the largest ancient castle in the world. The Cathedral of St Vitas dominates the castle in both presence and spectacle which makes it quite challenging to photograph. Hopefully I can convey some idea of its majesty.

There is a lot to see and do exploring the rest of the castle although more from an historical than photographic perspective.

Back to the cathedral, the front entrance.

The stained glass windows are truely spectacular. And there are a lot of them.

The central alter, Naturally there are the remains of saints displayed all around and a crypt under the alter.

He just wanted a quiet burial, no fuss made.

Don’t know if this has come to Australia yet. Electric candles that go for 15 minutes unless you put more money in.

Perched high on a hill, the walls offer great views over the city.

After the castle we visited the Old Town Square, really to just marvel at the beautiful architecture and sights.

There are a lot of these old style cars done up as open limos. Seems very popular with the tourists.

We discovered that all public transport in Prague is free to seniors over 65, even foreigners. So tomorrow we are going to take advantage of that and explore the city as much as we can.
