We stumbled upon Schloss Ort
I am very pleased to report we survived our first day on the road, not without a few minor issues, but we are pleasantly encamped in the Austrian town of Gmunden. We were planning to get to Salzburg but a broken step on the motorhome delayed our departure, and just as well.
After setting up at the camping spot we felt a walk was in order. We headed towards the lake and came upon Schloss Ort, or more correctly the Ort Castles for there is a complex. The main Schloss dates back to around 1080 and is built on a small island, now mainly used for weddings and functions.

Our home for the next 3 months.

Apparently Gmunden is world renown for its pottery, hence this lady greeting our arrival.

The dramatic Traunstein, rising 1,691 meters, overlooks the lake Traunsee.

Boathouses on the lake, 430 meters above sea level

For Sandra

Tomorrow we have about a 7 hour drive to Venice so not much sightseeing. Seems I said something similar yesterday.
