We lost a very good friend today.

Jed Gillian, 77, an icon of Collinsvale, passed away this morning.

When we met Jed and his wife, Jeltje, just after we moved to Collinsvale, we were instant friends. We have shared many meals, red wines, beers and whiskeys as well as their famous cheeses. He was the type of bloke who was always ready and willing to help out, both physically or with sage advice.

My favourite memories of Jed include his passion for his sheep, particularly a deserted new born lamb and our discussions about my garden and tips for how this city slicker could do better. Mate, we will miss you heaps.

Our thoughts are with Jeltje, James and Minka.
