Bilbao is all about the Guggenheim Museum which is an amazing place to visit. However we have had a huge day in town, its late, and the upload of photos tonight is pathetically slow, so I will bring you some of Bilbao in this post and the Guggenheim hopefully tomorrow night in a special post.

Bilbao is like any other sizeable city with its high rise accomodation, business and shopping district, and industrial area. It’s the Old Town that makes them special. Here it was very tourist driven so we didn’t feel the same vibe as in some other towns. Saying that it is still a great place to visit.

The Cathedral of Sebastian. Only worth two photos so I am not going to rave about it. Getting a bit cathedral out I guess.

Bilbao Old Town.

Had a ride up the 100 year old Funicular for a look from above. Its quite a ride.

This bloke was using the ‘old bellows camera hiding a new digital’ trick to win over some tourist dollars.

The Guggenheim from on high.

The continuing quest for a non alcoholic lemon beer. This offering started out a bit strange but was great after mashing the lemon slices.

For my camping and caravan mates, an idea I have never seen but looks very effective. Will try to bring a pair back with me.

We are finding that the Spain we like best is the countryside and the small villages. The cities are good for a day or so but then time to move on. Tomorrow we head towards Gijon along the coast. Will find somewhere there hopefully with internet so I can bring you Guggenheim.
