Seeing there all over Spain. Explains why I can’t find any at home.

Finding decent camp grounds that are not packed out this week is a serious and frustrating problem. It is consuming a lot of our time and mental energy and seriously detracting from the job at hand, being a tourist. It seems to be all about this total solar eclipse which we are not fanatical about but which we might as well see while we are in the right spot. Along with several hundred thousand others. That’s the problem.

Any way we have finally managed to make Plan W work and we are in a reasonably nice camp spot about 1 km from where we want to be. The town (really just a beach) is Penarronda. We are sharing the location with a milking shed and the constant reminder we are in the country. We expect to be here for 4 days so a bit of down time mixed with some local exploring is in order.

Typical of so many of the bridges and viaducts here. Spain seems to always ad a bit of design flair.

Today we explored the town of Ribadeo, an old coastal port. It’s a more modern town than many visited with a very busy and bustling centre.

Many of the sign in the town are made with these ceramic tiles which look great and will last longer.

The translation alludes to the chapel being a watchtower over sailors.

This shop is the traditional everything grocer, all packed into a minute space.

The cathedral is said to be quite magnificent but is so deteriorated that it is closed for repair, and has been for a number of years. The copper tiles on the steeple give an indication as to what the rest might be like.

Tomorrow some more exploring in the country.
