The Wooden Boat Show

Each year Hobart holds the Wooden Boat Show, an exhibition of the finest craftsmanship in timber boatbuilding in the country. Tasmania has a long and prestigious reputation with timber boats extending back to convict times. The now protected Huon Pine is rated as one of the best boat building timbers.

Boys and girls split, as you would expect, with the girls exploring the markets and shops and the boys at the boat show. As I am a boy and I have the camera, I bring you the best of the Wooden Boat Show.

The joinery work in these boats is amazing. I can’t imagine how many hours are involved.
