Spain & Portugal – From a Beach to a Castle

Not the Carcassonne Castle but a very nice cut down version we saw on the way.

A short blog today. Only 2 hours drive with the rest taken up with shopping, maintenance and resting.

Rod and Kathy, some new friends from England who we met while trying to get into our campsite yesterday. Their kind assistance was invaluable and we shared a few drinks later. See you in Tas guys.

Finally, a sign that Spain is close.

Some beautiful country driving through France. This area is very heavily planted with grapes.

Over the last few days there has been evidence of recent fires throughout the region.

Very impressed with the highway rest stop areas. They are well appointed with lots of tables and chairs, toilets, vending machines, and even car charging stations. This bloke was enjoying a wine with his lunch before driving on.

We crossed the Du Midi canal numerous times. Boats are for hire and an enjoyable week could be had if so inclined. Plenty of restaurants to tie up to.

Found a lovely camp site in Carcassonne where we will tomorrow explore the castle. Another SWIMMING POOL tonight plus we bought a fan. Heaven.

Tomorrow the Carcassonne castle.
